What if I found a roommate after I sent in the roommate form for Flagler to just pick one for me?

You can always send an email to Rachel Green, head of Residence Life, stating that you’d like to change your roommate request (and whomever you’re changing to should email as well). Or you can wait until Orientation to change your form choices.

Her email is rgreen@flagler.edu; good luck!

When do we meet our dorm-mates?

You will soon be getting such information on your My.Flagler.edu account, with your intended room number and roommate(s). Your first official day meeting them will be during move-in!

Is it true that students can have fish in the dorm rooms?

It is quite true! Flagler dorms have a no-pet policy, with an exception for fish. Betta fish are very popular, but I’ve come across rooms with things akin to small oceans!

Are the dorms co-ed? If not, are there visitation hours?

No, Flagler maintains a strict no-interdorm visitation policy. Females and males can’t visit each others’ dorms under any circumstances. However, there are many places in which you can meet up and relax, watch television, and study together.

I am attending Flagler as a freshman this fall, when do freshman pick their classes, or does someone pick them for us?

Over this summer, you will be receiving an exhausting amount of informational packets. In one of these, there will be a sheet of paper in which you may write what classes you’d like or you can opt to have your advisor choose them for you.

I, personally, had my advisor choose my classes for my very first semester because I found the entire process very confusing. However, there are those who chose classes themselves.

Welcome to Flagler College! Feel free to ask any more questions.

What kinds of events happen at Flagler or in town for halloween? Do a lot of people participate?

There are a ton of events at Flagler around Halloween! The most popular are the Midnight Breakfast, which is a HUGE costumed dance at midnight, and a trip to Halloween Horror Nights. There are also dorm events in which students decorate their doors the scariest to win prizes, as well as hall events that might be scary movies in pajamas!

Flagler loves Halloween and we show it!

How does the Flagler work study program work? When do you apply? And how? (Incoming freshman)

The Work Study program can be applied for through your FAFSA application or by visiting the Financial Aid Office. If you go to the office personally, you can apply at any time.

Once you apply and you’re on the waiting list, you will be placed wherever on campus that work is available around your class schedule. If there is a specific place you would like to work in (the library, residence life, etc.), you can get a recommendation. However, usually, wherever you are placed will be easy work.

I have a question about the Early Decision Plan. I'm applying for college this summer/next year and Flagler is definitely my first choice, but do you really have to withdraw applications from all other colleges? I'm scared that if I do so, I'll end up not getting accepted and won't have enough time to submit applications to other colleges/universities.

Through the Early Decision process, you are only required to withdraw your applications to other colleges/universities if you are accepted to Flagler. However, you may still apply to other schools during the waiting period, in case you are worried you may not be selected.

Keep in mind that those who apply for Early Decision have a much higher chance of being accepted, anyway.

Thank you for your question!

WHOA Your Mom Was Right: Water and Dehydration
As college students, most young adults get some sort of an Invincibility Complex; as in the “health doesn’t apply to me” invincibility. However, this bubble needs to be burst before it really even forms.
One of the easiest ways to decline your health is through not drinking water. You will become dehydrated. It WILL happen to you if you do not pay attention to what you intake. Many students neglect their health and drink only soda, but you simply cannot do this.
Simple ways to fix this:
Get a water filter of some sort
Designate a glass of water with certain meals
Buy flavored water (Fruit2O and Activate are great)
Buy packets of flavor for water bottles
The amount of students that are sick and deteriorating because of dehydration is astounding. Take care of your body. Your health DOES exist.
